Rehabilitating 111 Liberty really has been a labor of love. As residents of Penn Yan, we had been aware of the building and its history and, with a home right up the street, we’d been aware of the benign neglect it had suffered over the decades. But even more, every time we passed it, we talked about its not-so-hidden potential – how bringing new life to it would bring much needed life to a little corner of Penn Yan.
So, with decades of real estate experience (Cindy) and commercial construction (Vinny), we bought 111 Liberty and started putting our plans and dreams on paper. Then, we made them come to life. And we did it as a family, which was so important to us. Little did we know at the beginning of this adventure that this much loved building would also be part of the legacy of our much loved husband, father and friend, Vinny. But, here it stands, a testament to his hard work and to our love of one another and Penn Yan.
Our first task, after making sure all the mechanicals were updated to code, was to carve out 11 apartments, some of them Executive style and some Loft style but all of them modern, bright and open. We finished that project in 2021 and rented all of them in record time.
Our next task was to rehabilitate the lower levels of 111 so that someone could see its potential as a home for their commercial enterprise. Grandest of all perhaps, was to make sure it was ready to be a home to a new, upscale eating and drinking establishment that would take full advantage of the canal-side setting, soaring ceilings and expansive views. By mid 2022, we found the perfect partner to make this phase of our dreams a reality. Plans are being put in place to have this spectacular addition to the Penn Yan dining and entertainment scene open as soon as possible. We are so excited! Stay tuned here for updates on our progress!
